Bra La Mode is a unique, full-service apparel consulting company, private label manufacturer, and boutique, high-touch, end-to-end sourcing firm founded by Moira Nelson. Moira is a seasoned apparel industry professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for developing brands and businesses. With almost twenty five years in the business, Moira is now regarded as an expert in full busted and full figure bra design, fit, and function but also has extensive experience in multiple other categories such as swimwear and shapewear.
Moira launched Bra La Mode in 2011, and since then, she has launched numerous brands from scratch and has transformed several legacy brands. She's managed every aspect of the process from identifying the target consumer and brand DNA to determining market positioning and distribution channel to designing, developing, fitting, and sourcing the product from concept/ sketch through final bulk production.
Moira has extensive experience in foundations, daywear, loungewear, sleepwear, shapewear and swimwear (including bra-sized swim & plus size swim). Throughout her career, she has managed business in all tiers of the retail market from mass market to premium and luxury and everything in between. Her work has spanned from private label business for major retailers to in-house owned brands, major national brands, and emerging brands, as well as licensed brands and venture-backed start-up's.
One of the keys to Moira's success is her visionary, macro level, strategic thinking. She takes inspiration from various and sundry sources and considers herself a global citizen. Moira stays abreast of worldwide business trends in addition to apparel market news and industry trends. She shops the stores in all tiers of the market on a regular basis to maintain her knowledge of each retailer’s business model, new product offerings, innovative marketing strategies, brand identity, assortments and merchandising methods, retail price points, target demographics, etc. Moira travels extensively both domestically and internationally. She credits this for her expansive world view which, at the end of the day, benefits your business and bottom line.
Moira is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, she is a long-time drug policy reform advocate, and is dedicated to racial and social justice. She has mentored women in recovery from substance use disorders, underprivileged teens, and young professionals throughout her career.
