Intimate Affair: The Lingerie Alliance Sponsors Lingerie Pillow Fight Party with Social Exposure Media

On June 26th, 2013 at XVI Rooftop Lounge, Social Exposure will produce a 300 person lingerie pillow fight party with cocktails sponsored by Hammer + Sickle Vodka, featuring lingerie by Rouge Seduire and in collaboration with The Lingerie Alliance.

Pillow5A sexy yet playful event meant to bring out our childlike humor; sprinkled with a tinge of naughtiness.

Invited guests MUST attend in lingerie or sleepwear to keep the theme (and photos, of course) consistent.  Men and women are encouraged to bring their own pillows and at the height of the night, the pillow bashing begins with an unexpected explosion of feathers, glitter and absolute (tasteful) mayhem!

The purpose of this event is not only to fulfill every mans dream (LOL), but to encourage creative, outside-the-box interaction by forcing active networking and activity that you don’t normally get to participate in. Yes, these events have a seductive side, but the main purpose is to spread a positive message of body awareness and sensuality where oftentimes in a metropolis such as New York, social pressures can take a toll on the healthy mind.

Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?  I have so much to be grateful for this year…  I don’t even know where to begin.  Without getting too sentimental, I would just like to say that it has been overwhelming, humbling and inspiring to watch my businesses grow.  And I have you all to thank for this!  Without you, my family, friends, fans, followers and supporters, I would not have been able to plow forward through the tough times (when I was literally working 18+ hours a day.)  I’ve learned to simply put one foot in front of the other… Planting lots of little seeds along the way.  The rewards have been priceless.  I am very blessed.  What do you have to be thankful for this year?

Last Wednesday, November 14th, luxury brand Fleur du Mal celebrated its launch by hosting an Intimate Affair at a trendy downtown NYC loft.  The event featured Parisian DJ Inez Melia and renowned Mixologist Xavier Herit.  Fleur du Mal is a signature collection of ready-to-wear and lingerie by Jennifer Zuccarini.  With years of experience, including time as co-founder of Kiki de Montparnasse and design director at Victoria’s Secret, Jennifer is a natural at creating sensual, seductive pieces that both men and women are drawn to.  Fleur du Mal provides a confidence boosting aspect to any woman’s wardrobe through specialty pieces such as a leather corset created in collaboration with famed Parisian corset maker Cadolle, a sheer tuxedo blazer, and French rose lace intimates. The Intimate Affair, GO NAKED AND CHECK YOURSELF, was held on November 18th at Teak Restaurant, Red Bank, New Jersey.  The annual event is a fundraising affair dedicated to bringing awareness / prevention to detectible cancers where you can go naked and check yourself – skin, breast and testicular cancers.  The event was presented by Sugarush (a specialty bakery in Red Bank, NJ) and the award-winning lingerie boutique, Sweetest Sin

The mission of Go Naked and Check Yourself is to take the stigma of embarrassment out of checking yourself, because early detection can prevent long term issues.  All proceeds from this year’s event will benefit The American Cancer Society, Livestrong, Young Survival Coalition and Move for Hunger.  This year’s event raised over $10,000 for these non-profit organizations.  The event was sponsored in part by The Lingerie Alliance and leading designer brand for intimate lifestyle products, LELO.

On Saturday, December 8th, Bra La Mode presents a Festive Affair Holiday Trunk Show featuring Dirty Dolls Lingerie, Love & Dream Sleepwear and Loungewear and introducing luxury lingerie line Rouge Séduire.  The Intimate Affair will be held at Spa 34 on 34th Street in NYC from 10am-3pm and will feature Spa Specials including a Mani/Pedi for only $22 (reg. $34.) and a ½ Hour Full Body Massage for only $30 (reg. $40.)  Come in from the cold and shop for Holiday Gifts up to 50% off and indulge yourself with a Spa treatment!

Intimate Insiders, Intimate Affairs and Upcoming Events

Happy Labor Day!  Labor Day marks the unofficial end of Summer.  For me, the “back to school” season means a new beginning…  Each year at this time, I find myself settling down, getting “back to business and back to basics,” reevaluating personal and professional goals and setting new ones.  It was this time last year that I launched my business Bra La Mode.  As I reflect back, I can’t believe it’s only been one year, as I’ve accomplished quite a bit during that time.  I look forward to seeing what’s in store for me and my businesses throughout the rest of 2012!

The official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC kicks off on the evening of September 5th with the 9th Annual Style Awards and continues through Thursday, September 13th.  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is New York City’s single largest media event, taking place twice a year (February & September.)  The event provides top designers an international platform to showcase their collections to more than 100,000 industry insiders from around the world, including buyers, editors, retailers, celebrities, VIPs, and more.  With more than 80 designers’ shows over 8 days, it is known as the premier event worldwide where style, beauty, supermodels, and celebrities come together to celebrate the best in fashion.  Follow @MBFashionWeek on Twitter.

Fashion’s Night Out is this Thursday, September 6th.  For a complete listing of Fashion’s Night Out events in cities around the world, go to www.fashionsnightout.com.  Last year I took myself on a “Lingerie Tour” of lower Manhattan including stops at Journelle SoHo, Kiki de Montparnasse, Bloomie’s, La Perla and Agent Provocateur.  I chronicled my FNO journey in two of my first blog posts on Bra La Mode.  It’s really cool to look back to see where I was at this time last year and to see the personal and professional progress I’ve made.  This year I will be spending the evening with Bethenny Frankel at Macy’s Herald Square.  The Intimate Affair at Macy’s will feature the Skinnygirl Smoothers n’ Shapers “Real Woman” Fashion Show which will be hosted by the “queen of too much information,” Bethenny herself!

REMINDER!  Small Boutique Fashion Week is this Saturday….  The SBFW2012 Fashion Show and Market is geared towards small business owners, emerging designers, and novelty designers that are looking to get their start by selling to small boutiques and unique shops.  This edition will be held on Saturday, September 8th at The Metropolitan Pavilion and will feature three separate showcases at 12pm, 4pm and 8pm.  For more information:  www.smallboutiquefw.com.

And to celebrate the end of Fashion Week, The Lingerie Alliance will be hosting the official Nolcha Fashion Week Closing Party in collaboration with Label 55 on Thursday, September 13, 2012.  Nolcha Fashion Week is an award-winning event for independent fashion designers to showcase their collections to a global audience of press, retailers, stylists and industry influencers.  This edition of the event will run from September 10th – 13th, 2012 and will include runway presentations, an exclusive bloggers brunch, fashion lounge, after-parties, networking events, and the official fashion week closing party.  Nolcha Fashion Week is officially listed with Mercedes-Benz as one of two recognized Fashion Weeks by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.  Nolcha offers a range of cost effective options to increase designers’ recognition and develop their businesses.  My partner, Luis Paredes, and I are very pleased to be partnered with Label 55 and Nolcha Fashion Week as they share our passion for supporting independent brands.  We hope you will join us for this Intimate Affair which will provide great networking for fashion industry pros!  Please RSVP through guestcode.com – code # 1439.

Intimate Insiders, Intimate Affairs and Upcoming Events

Last Friday was a traumatic day here in New York City.  The shooting near the Empire State Building occurred in the unofficial Intimate Apparel district.  Most lingerie brands and manufacturers have showrooms and offices within a block of New York’s most iconic skyscraper.  I had stepped out of the Starbucks on the corner of 33rd & 5th only minutes before the first shots were fired.  And several minutes after the shooting took place, we received word that our receptionist had been caught in the crossfire.  Luckily, she only suffered a shot to the leg and is expected to make a full recovery.  Inevitably, those closest to unexpected tragedies find themselves humbled and grateful while acutely aware of their own humanity and mortality….Ever reminded of those things that matter most.  I implore each of you to take a moment of silence today….Simply say “thank you” with sincere humility.  The reality is….we work with bras and panties….  We’re not saving lives.  We may be saving sex lives…. But we’re not saving lives!
