3 Feb

For the woman that wants it all, Crème Bralée Lingerie is giving away a lingerie set valued up to $65 through the brand’s new “Pin it to Win It” Valentine’s Day Pinterest Contest.  The Contest runs through tomorrow, February 4, 2014. Fans of the sexy, full-busted brand have the opportunity to express their originality by creating a dedicated Pinterest board representing the theme #HaveYourCake.

On February 4th, the brand’s designer, Liz Marrell, will select one winner to receive a Crème Bralée set (valued up to $65 USD.) The winner will receive her new lingerie set just in time for the hottest holiday of the year — Valentine’s Day!

Everyone will interpret #HaveYourCake differently. Is it Sweet? Erotic? Lustful? Passionate? Alluring? Full of Fascination and Fantasy? Intriguing? This contest gives entrants the opportunity to reveal their own personality and desires in interpreting this theme. The brand itself offers imagery to inspire and motivate entrants to explore their own vision of having it all.

“Have Your Cake” can mean many things, sweet, erotic, lustful, passionate, fantasy, etc.  To me, the well known phrase, ‘Have your cake and eat it too’, can be positively empowering- being able to do what you want when you want, especially on Valentine’s Day,” says Crème Bralée’s Design and Creative Director, Liz Marrell. “Go on a romantic date or have a girls night out. Buy lingerie for someone else or wear it for yourself – you can be your own Valentine if you desire!  Also, desserts and lingerie have always gone hand in hand on V-Day.  I post a weekly ‘Better Than Sex Dessert’ photo every week on our social media and I’d love to see what everyone comes up with for Valentine’s Day.”

Crème Bralée was created by Q-T Intimates, makers of fine lingerie for over 68 years, to fill a void in the plus sized market and offer a fashion-forward line of bras and panties available in an extensive size range, full-busted and full-figured women will have no problem filling their wardrobes with the lingerie they’ve been lusting over. Crème Bralée is available in those hard-to-find sizes of 32-46, C-G cup.

“Our Crème Bralée collection offers an amazing assortment – inspired by luxury and opulence. We concentrated on the details of styling and fit and had every woman’s shape and need in mind when designing the fabulous new line,” said Meryl Kutzin, VP of Merchandising. “Each piece celebrates a shapely and curvy figure.”

Intimate Insight: Curvy Couture — Beautiful Bras For the Full Figured Woman

25 Jan

All too often curvaceous women have to settle for ill-fitting, frumpy looking bras while their smaller counterparts get to enjoy the luxury of fashion forward designs.  Dora Lau, president of Dora L. Inc., became frustrated with the small selection of beautiful, well priced bras for full figured women and decided to launch Curvy Couture, a collection that uses the latest technologies to create intimate apparel that enhances a woman’s curves and makes her feel wonderful.

Leopard-

After graduating from FIDM, Dora Lau started her career in Full Figure eveningwear.  This experience working with beautiful, luxurious fabrics gave her the push to begin working in the intimate apparel industry.  Since then, Dora has been manufacturing bras for top brands for over 25 years, including the likes of Victoria’s Secret and Lane Bryant.

designer

The brand offers solutions to women who all too often have to compromise themselves by wearing bras and panties that do not fit correctly.  Oftentimes this results in pained shoulders from straps that are too tight and dig into the skin.  Curvy Couture offers products that lift the bosom and allow women to feel confident showing their curves without hiding under loose tops.

Curvy Couture has been in the making for many years, but only recently has Dora been able to set aside the funds to make her dream of offering affordable and beautiful bras to full figured women a reality.  Launching the new label and branching out into e-commerce offers customers the latest fabrics and trims utilizing the latest innovation and technology to enhance fit and comfort.  “Retail stores have been reluctant to carry curvy lingerie nor do they have a special section to service my customer.  I believe e-commerce is the best way to reach out to my girls.  She will enjoy the luxury of fitting our bras with total privacy at home, or wherever she prefers, and does not have to deal with the pressure of being intruded by sales associates in stores,” says Dora.

Dora grew up in the world of entertainment, with her parents owning a record label in Hong Kong.  She was able to be very much involved with the dressing of her parents’ singers for performances and gained an appreciation for fashion and flair.  As a result, it came as no surprise that inspiration for the launch collection came from Hollywood glamour and the Art Deco era.

One of the most intimidating aspects of purchasing a bra online is the fear that it will not fit.  However, Dora has done away with this fear by offering a unique feature called Pick 2 on Curvy Couture’s e-commerce site that allows women to choose two bras to test for size and fit.  The bra that does not work is simply returned.

Currently Curvy Couture offers styles in C-DD cup sizes, but Dora plans on expanding the size range to include F, G, and H cups in spring 2013.  Other endeavors for the brand include producing a line of sports bras that are easy to put on without causing a heart attack to take off as well as a line of light shapewear that is easy to wear and provides sculpture for curves.

It will certainly be exciting to see how the brand develops throughout this coming year and beyond.  The lingerie industry could definitely use more entrepreneurs like Dora who realize that full figured women want to celebrate their curves and not hide them.

The breast cancer awareness organization, PinkChoseMe Foundation, is hosting Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day USA 2012, an awareness and fundraising celebration, on October 17th, 2012.  I am delighted to announce that The Lingerie Alliance is sponsoring this event to help make it a success.  Tiffany Jones, Founder and President of PinkChoseMe Foundation, is working with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Foundation to bring BRA Day USA 2012 to New York City for the very first time.  The Intimate Affair is sponsored by the Breast and Plastic Surgeons at the Weill Cornell Breast Center in NYC.  This unique awareness and fundraising event is being held at the upscale Martin Lawrence Gallery in New York’s famed downtown neighborhood, SoHo.  The event is expected to attract numerous celebrities and other notable / prominent, world-renowned individuals to support this important cause.  Singer/songwriter, New York Times bestselling author and humanitarian, Jewel, is serving as the national spokesperson for BRA Day USA, advocating on behalf of the cause through media appearances, public service announcements, a dedicated BRA Day USA song and benefit concert event.  BRA Day USA has partnered with MobileCause to facilitate the fundraising process.  Individuals and companies are welcome to make donations to support this cause by texting PINK and the dollar amount of their contribution to 717777.  All donations will benefit The PSF BRA Fund (less transaction fees.)

This celebratory event which is intended to be uplifting and spirited caps a day filled with events throughout the country and in New York, which are dedicated to “closing the loop.”  This festive affair will include pink bubbly and light fare, VIP gift bags, music, silent auctions and dedicated art exhibits.  In addition, special honored guests will be presented with awards for their dedication and commitment to PinkChoseMe Foundation and the first ever BRA Day USA.  In addition to The Lingerie Alliance, sponsors, contributors and participants of the event include The Plastic Surgery Foundation, the well-known Martin Lawrence Gallery, MARTINI beverage distributors, the leading online retailer of men’s and women’s underwear and intimates Freshpair.com, luxury beauty and lingerie brand Naked Princess, floral design company Only Roses, San Francisco based beauty brand Benefit Cosmetics, Young Professionals United for Change, Michael Steele Photography and apparel brand Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.

I am partnered with Tiffany Jones to organize this event which has become a personal passion for me.  Last year, I attended Linda the Bra Lady’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event at her Murray Hill store.  At that time, I made a promise to myself that I would dedicate more time and energy to advocating for those affected by breast cancer.  As luck would have it, breast cancer survivor Tiffany Jones approached me to help her in executing this event.  I am delighted!

Sylvia (right) with her daughter Liz

And most importantly, I am dedicating my hard work in making this event a success to my dear friend, Sylvia D. Walter.  Sylvia lost her battle to metastatic breast cancer this past Friday, September 21st.  She fought this disease for nearly two decades with valor, grace and dignity.  Rest in peace, Sylvia!  You will never be forgotten.

Last week was a helluva week for me.  I was supposed to fly to Milwaukee for an appointment on Tuesday- in and out in one day.  However, due to flight delays and cancelled flights, I ended up stuck in Milwaukee through Thursday (why couldn’t I get stuck in a city like Paris or Rome???)  After finally returning to the East Coast, I decided I needed a little R&R.  I went down the shore to spend a few days with my parents who live in Barnegat, NJ (just inland from Long Beach Island.)  Quality time with family never fails to cure the effects of the “woe is me” syndrome.

INDIAN SUMMER, Beach Haven, Long Beach Island.

Of course, even while on vacation, I inevitably find myself drawn to the closest lingerie boutiques.  This time, it was Indian Summer in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, NJ.  The owner, Marla Wink, is quite proud of her assortment…and she should be!  Who would think a bustling beach town with very few year-round residents would need a bra shop?  Before entering, I assumed she would only be carrying casual lingerie that caters to the tourists that browse the myriad shops along Bay Avenue looking to score an LBI logo sweatshirt or a pair of flip-flops.  Nonetheless, I was dead wrong!  Indian Summer has a wide assortment of bras from 28-48 band and from AA to K cup.  She carries quality brands such as Wacoal, Chantelle, Eveden brands Fantasie, Freya and Elomi, Panache and Harlequin, and newcomer Curvy Kate.  A full-busted gal like me was in bra heaven.  In addition, she has cozy PJ sets and robes from the likes of PJ Salvage and luxurious lingerie from brands such as In Bloom and Jonquil.  The best part?  Bra-sized swimwear from Freya, Fantasie, Huit, Panache and Anita among others.  It was definitely worth the trip!

This Tuesday, August 21st, CLO Intimo is hosting a Summer Sample Sale at the Archstone in Murray Hill from 5-10pm.  Sip champagne and nibble on strawberries while browsing the last of the CLO Summer styles as well as the unique jewelry designs of Rebecka Froberg.

Leading lingerie trade show CURVENV runs from August 21st through the 23rd at The Venetian in Las Vegas.  Guests can still register at www.curvexpo.com.

Freshpair, the world’s leading internet retailer for men’s underwear and women’s lingerie needs, is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of National Underwear Day this week.  Freshpair will unveil its one-of-a-kind “It’s Time for a Change” pop-up store in New York City on Wednesday.  Everyone is invited to 315 W. 57th Street in Manhattan, August 22nd and 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The pop-up store will provide guests with an “experience” including free underwear from the event’s title sponsors—Calvin Klein, Wacoal, Leonisa, Emporio Armani, 2xist, C-IN2, Rated M, and others—as well as demonstrations of Freshpair’s signature At Home Bra Fitting and Men’s Underwear Club services, advice from style gurus, exclusive specials and giveaways, and a walk through model alley where New York’s top models will be showing off the latest underwear looks.  The “It’s Time for a Change” campaign represents a lot for this company which recently went through a rebranding.  Check out Freshpair’s new look and unique services which were developed to provide a personalized customer experience at: www.freshpair.com

Fashion’s Night Out is scheduled for September 6th.  I will be spending the evening with Bethenny Frankel at Macy’s Herald Square.  Want in on the fun?  You can win a chance to walk the Skinnygirl Smoothers n’ Shapers Fashion Show at FNO.  Bethenny says, “When I created Skinnygirl Smoothers n’ Shapers, I wanted a sensible solution without compromising fashion.  I made sure that Skinnygirl Shapewear was made for real women.  It’s the shapewear that you want people to see.  That’s why, for Fashion’s Night Out, we’re celebrating with a fashion show that showcases women of all different shapes and sizes feeling confident and sexy in their Skinnygirl Shapewear.”  Three lucky ladies will be chosen to walk in the Skinnygirl Solutions “Real Woman” Fashion Show, taking place at Macy’s Herald Square on Thursday, September 6th.  Winners will get to keep the shapewear that they walk in and will receive a styling session with a Macy’s fashion expert prior to the show.  Plus, Bethenny will be emceeing the event so the winners will get to meet the “queen of too much information!!”  Entries are due no later than Wednesday, August 22nd.  For details: http://www.bethenny.com/post/bethenny-frankel-skinnygirl-shapewear-contest-celebrate-fashions-night-out-with-me

“parfait” n. or adj. meaning, “perfect” in French

Leading lingerie brands Affinitas & Parfait have recently launched “The Parfait Stylist,” a nationwide search for a budding stylist to style their upcoming campaign in L.A. this Fall.  Contestants must prove their styling skills using Polyvore and then via a “Style-off” video for a chance to win a $1500 cash prize, $1000 worth of Affinitas & Parfait lingerie courtesy of Ladymate.com and round-trip airfare & hotel stay in Los Angeles, CA this November to style the brand’s next campaign!  To enter, contestants must submit initial entries by August 31st at this link: http://www.facebook.com/AffinitasIntimates/app_475782395767493.

Final winner will be selected by Affinitas & Parfait along with Guest Judges, Treacle Tart, The Lingerie Addict www.thelingerieaddict.com & Miriam Hernandez, The Lingerie Stylist www.thelingeriestylist.com.  This is a very exciting & unique opportunity for aspiring fashion stylists.

The International Lingerie Show (ILS) runs September 10th through the 12th at the RIO in Las Vegas.  The ILS trade show leans towards the sexy/adult side of our industry.  For more information, go to:  www.lvlingerieshow.com.

Intimate Insiders, Intimate Affairs and Upcoming Events

10 Jul

“I Love Paris in the Summer when it Sizzles…”  I can’t think of a more appropriate song lyric to sum up the essence of the annual Salon International du Swimwear and de la Lingerie and Interfiliere held in Paris each July.  The famous trade shows which feature the latest lingerie and swimwear designs from brands around the world as well raw materials such as fabric, embroidery, lace and trims, are wrapping up as we speak….  Although I didn’t attend this year, I can assure you that these shows are “sizzling.”  I look forward to reading (and seeing) the trend reports from my colleagues in the coming weeks.  These shows (which take place concurrently) inspire intimate apparel professionals to do what they do….  To bring you the latest and greatest lingerie and swimwear designs conceivable!

A few Intimate Insights for the week….

There seems to be a new trend in Intimate Apparel Retailing….  I recently introduced you to the ecom site, True & Co.  True & Co. claims to solve our bra fit problems with a proprietary online fit process (sans measuring tape.)  Unfortunately, when I filled out their “simple quiz,” the results revealed that they had no matches for me.  Since then, I’ve discovered two more websites offering intimate apparel in a members-only environment.  Both sites create a customized showroom for members based on your preferences (another “simple quiz.”)  Each site varies slightly.  But the overall concept seems to be the same.

Social commerce company BeachMint  launched their latest site, intiMINT, on May 30th.  They partnered with Dancing with the Stars host, Brooke Burke-Charvet to create the brand.  Available exclusively at intimint.com, the collection includes intimate apparel, loungewear, and sleepwear.

Brooke Burke-Charvet

intiMINT’s launch collection ranges in price from twenty dollars for two pairs of panties to eighty dollars for more substantial pieces.  intiMINT’s monthly membership (twenty dollars) is applied as a credit towards any purchase and is only charged when a member makes her first purchase.  As with BeachMint’s other brands, members receive personalized selections each month matched to their Style Profile with the option to choose items they love or skip the month for no charge.  Members also receive exclusive behind the scenes content and how-to styling tips.

The website AdoreMe.com claims to be the world’s first online lingerie personalized club providing the convenience and luxury of a personal shopping experience.  Upon entering the website, Adore Me members fill out a free lingerie consultation (AKA the “simple quiz”) indicating preferences in color, size, shape, and fit.  Additionally, fun questions such as, “Which Gossip Girl style best fits you?” provides additional insight into each member’s individual tastes.  Based on this style profile, a private showroom is handpicked.  Then, members receive one-on-one attention from lingerie experts who create a new showroom for them each month.  Monthly membership is just $39.95 and includes one set, free shipping and free exchange!  Adore Me offers bras, panties, boy shorts, bathing suits, stockings, leggings, chemises, baby doll, and more!

How do you feel about this type of online retailing?  Do you trust a computer quiz to “match” you with your perfect bra even if an intimate apparel expert had a hand in selecting it for you?  Heck…  If we can trust a “simple quiz” on Match.com or eHarmony to match us with our perfect mate, why not bras?  But I’m beginning to think it’s easier to find the perfect life partner than it is to find the perfect bra!  Thoughts?

Another designer has been added to the line-up of the next edition of the Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase.  I’m excited to report that Angela Friedman will be showing her Versailles Collection alongside independent brands With Love Lingerie, Nevaeh Intimates, Dirty Dolls Lingerie and Clare Bare Eco-Friendly Intimate Apparel.  This season’s show runs from Sunday, August 5th through August 8th at the AKA Hotel on West 44th Street, NYC.  The Lingerie Designer Showcase had an incredibly successful show last February with several independent designers showing their lines and a sold out Brand Affair Seminar and Lingerie Exhibition that drew in close to 200 guests including buyers, lingerie retail store owners, independent lingerie designers, wholesale manufacturers, influential lingerie bloggers, and other intimate apparel professionals.  Buyers are welcome to pre-register here:  www.LingerieDesignerShowcase.com/attendee-registration/

OK….. I may have lied (not intentionally, of course.)  Web development is running a few days behind schedule (to be expected.)  Soooo….  We’re not quite ready for our big announcement.  But I promise it will happen this week.  Follow Bra La Mode & The Lingerie Journal (I’m thinking Wednesday or Thursday latest) to hear about my latest endeavor with Luis Paredes, publisher of The Lingerie Journal.  I’m really excited about this project and can’t wait to share it with the entire lingerie community. It will align all facets of our industry in very unique ways.

Buyers are welcome to register for the upcoming CurvExpo at www.CurvExpo.com.  The Designer Lingerie and Swim Show is being held in NYC from August 5th through August 7th and in Las Vegas from August 21st through the 23rd.

Intimate Insight: I love you, Jenette!! by Enid

27 Jun

A year ago this week I finally decided to make a major change in my life and set out to lose 85 pounds.  As of today I’ve lost 57 pounds, dropped three sizes and my waist is almost 8 inches smaller.  Even more important is that as I began to experience positive progress with this goal, I was encouraged to make some other changes in the rest of my life.  Today I am a much happier woman who is very excited to see what new surprises await this year and the years to come.

Given all this weight I’ve been losing, it was inevitable that my bras, like most of my wardrobe, would start to become too big for me.  At a house party one weekend, I met two fellow busty gals, Brittany and Lisa, who told me about this place called Jenette’s Bras which sold to D cups and above only.  I was excited to check out this store and when I needed to replace some of my now too big bras, I decided to take the subway down to their East Hollywood location.

Located in the Bike District, near LA City College, this shop is no regular rack store.  Instead I walked into a waiting room furnished  à la Mad Men, complete with vintage Playboy and Life magazines and a nice display of bras from my favorite label, Prima Donna.  The woman sitting at what looked like a receptionist’s desk had me fill out a card with my info and then take a seat.

After a short wait, Sara escorted me back to the dressing room area and started sizing me up.  No tape measures here, just some questions about what I was looking for, what size I had been and an eyeball of how my Fantasie bra was now fitting me gave her all the information she needed.  She handed me what turned out to be the beige version of my beloved Prima Donna Deauville bra to try on to verify  my size.  I had been worried that all this weight loss would mean a reduction in my well-endowed chest, so I was thrilled to discover that while my band size had gone down, my cup size had remained the same and I was now a 36G/34H depending on the style of bra.

I tend to stay with black and beige colors, but when Sara brought over this cute red number I just had to try it on; and it was love at first fit.  I can safely say my love affair with molded bras is over and I’m now all about the sheer and lacy!

The bra I bought was a Panache Superbra Tango II.  It made my chest look amazing!  I wore it out that night on a pub-crawl and seriously could not stop checking myself out.  It lifts, separates, gives amazing support and looks beautiful.  I’m quickly learning that a good bra is not determined by the type of fabric used so much as by the construction, and Panache makes an amazing bra that looks and fits as good as the more expensive Prima Donna, but for half the price.

Thank you so much to Sara who helped me out and introduced me to some other amazing styles as well.  If you live in the LA area and you are a D cup or above, you must take a trip to Jenette Bras and get yourself something gorgeous!

Intimate Intro: Curves- You’ve Finally Met Your Match!

30 Nov

Enid and I initially met in a friend’s book club in Los Angeles.  Actually, it may have been my book club.  (I’m famous for coming up with hare-brained schemes!)  Regardless, the book club quickly became defunct.  No one else wanted to read books about boobs and bras!  Can you imagine!!??  But luckily, Enid and I became fast friends and our friendship has survived the test of time.  In fact, we were roommates for a few months back in 2006.  I had just gotten divorced and was in the process of a mini meltdown.  Shortly thereafter, I packed my bags (and my bras) and moved back to NYC.  Needless to say, Enid witnessed me at my worst and got to know me intimately.

I know very few people that can talk about boobs and bras as much as I can.  Enid is one of those few!  We share that love/hate relationship with our boobs and bras.  I’m grateful that we’ve maintained our friendship over the years and across the country.  Like a good bra, Enid provides me with great support!

Enid lives in the Los Angeles area and works in post-production (yes, that’s in the film biz).  She is a curvy gal on a constant search for affordable clothes that she can buy off the rack, clothes that show off her hourglass figure without requiring extra tailoring.  She dreams of one day finding the perfect-fitting button-up blouse for work as well as a comfortable and supportive sports bra for working out.  But her holy grail is a sexy, scarlet satin balconette bra in a 40G that can hold up the girls while still feeling like it’s almost nothing at all!

Join me in welcoming my friend Enid to Bra La Mode…..Her opinions reflect her own experience and are not necessarily the opinions of me, Moira Nelson, or of Bra La Mode as a company.  We will not edit the content of Enid’s articles.  This is intentional.  We want our readers to hear her authentic perspective as a sassy, sexy, smart, curvy chic living and working in Hollywood.

Intimate Affair: Get Naked with Sweetest Sin Bras

16 Nov

This year’s winner of The Best of Intima’s “Best Shop” Award, Sweetest Sin Boutique in Red Bank, New Jersey is partnering with local “cupcake bar” Sugarush and popular Teak Restaurant to promote awareness of detectable cancers including skin, breast and testicular cancer.  The three local businesses are hosting the Intimate Affair “Go Naked and Check Yourself” on Sunday, November 20, 2011.  The event is being held at Teak Restaurant located at 64 Monmouth Street in Red Bank, NJ from 5-8pm.  Tickets to the charity event are $30 in advance or $40 at the door and all proceeds will benefit the Monmouth & Ocean County American Cancer Society.  Numerous local businesses have joined together to sponsor and/or support the Intimate Affair which promises to be a fun evening of free champagne, cupcakes, door prizes, auctions, raffle prizes and more.  Models wearing boxers and lingerie will be volunteering their time to promote the idea of “checking yourself.”  (Don’t worry… they won’t “get naked.”)

Owner of Sweetest Sin Boutique, Angie Courtney, is no stranger to promoting causes which are important to her and she is an active member in the local community.  Even before she opened the award winning intimate apparel boutique in October of 2009, she showed up at the Red Bank River Center and told them “I want to get involved!”  She walked up and down the town’s bustling streets and personally introduced herself to the local shop owners…. She made herself a part of the community and it has paid off.  Upscale boutique Coco Pari refers her clients on a regular basis and the bridal salon in town, Mustillo’s (which has been in business since 1942) sends their brides to Angie to complete their bridal ensemble.  Red Bank, which happens to be my hometown, has always been an active community and is host to community events at least once a month.  Angie says that she involves herself in everything that happens in town… whether it is the annual Sidewalk Sale or the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event, she and Sweetest Sin participate in any way they can.  Regarding the “Go Naked and Check Yourself” event, Angie said “We want to let people know that they shouldn’t be embarrassed… Go get checked!”

Angie opened her bra boutique in 2009, however she did her “homework” for years before actually signing the lease.  She researched the industry and did market research, she shopped the stores, familiarized herself with the brands….  She felt that most of the lingerie stores in the market were too old fashioned or (on the opposite end of the spectrum) were too sexy or trashy.  She wanted to open a shop that was sexy yet sophisticated and she wanted to incorporate everyday basic bras.  She honed her skills at bra fitting in the years before opening her own store and discovered she was quite good at it.  Thus, Sweetest Sin was born.  Angie and her husband live in the neighboring town of Aberdeen, NJ.  But when she walked the streets of Red Bank, she knew this was the place to be.  Angie said, “I fell in love with the town.  It’s cute and quaint.  And there’s no lingerie or bra fitting boutique in town.”

Angie’s boutique Sweetest Sin was open less than two years when she won the Best of Intima’s “Best Shop” Award.  She was nominated by Wacoal America which she considered an honor, but she never expected to actually win!  She attended the awards ceremony which was held at the posh NYC event space 230 Fifth and was literally shocked when they announced the winner!  From my own first-hand experience, I can honestly say that it is well deserved.  Angie is very hands-on and is meticulous.  She says that most women come into her shop saying that they hate bra shopping.  Angie’s approach is that she does the shopping for them.  She said it’s all about customer service.  She is personally in the store every day that the doors are open.  Emphasis is placed on proper bra fitting.  Sweetest Sin carries hard to find sizes in a variety of styles.  She carries traditional styles as well as contemporary, fashion pieces.  Most popular brands include Chantelle, Wacoal and Marie Jo in bras.  For underwear and loungewear, popular brands include Eberjey, Hanky Panky and Between the Sheets.

For anyone considering opening their own lingerie boutique, Angie suggests that you really think about it because it is a lot of work and she puts in a lot of hours.  She also says “Do your research.”  Is there a market for your product in the location you are considering?  You don’t want to be one of a dozen lingerie shops in town!  But Angie concluded by saying, “If you love it, you will be successful.”

Sweetest Sin Boutique is located at 11 White Street in Red Bank, NJ.  Owner Angie Courtney provides personal bra fittings and isn’t satisfied until her customer finds the perfect bra for her!  Sweetest Sin also offers private “Bra Fitting Parties” for bachelorette parties, birthdays, lingerie bridal showers, mom’s night out, girl’s night out and for charities/ fundraisers.  To read Bra La Mode’s contributing writer Liz’s experience at Sweetest Sin, click here.
