Bra Breaking News: Bra La Mode Consulting Officially Launches

31 Jul

I am pleased to announce the official launch of Bra La Mode Consulting.  I initally launched Bra La Mode in September 2011 with the notion that I could be of service to individuals and/or businesses that are looking to break into the intimate apparel industry.  Over the course of the past two years, it became apparent that there was a definitive need for the services I could provide.  The business has evolved over time, and the result is Bra La Mode Consulting.

I established the full-service consulting company to assist independent lingerie designers, start-up companies and other small, wholesale Intimate Apparel businesses in executing their vision.

From concept to consumer, I collaborate with my clients, evaluate their individual needs and formulate a strategic plan to execute their initiatives.

Some clients approach me in the concept stage. We work together to establish a solid business plan and budget; we focus on brand identity, define the target consumer, determine key differentiators, create a marketing strategy, and then move forward with a clear plan of action.  I walk my clients through product development, pre-production and production, including the sourcing of materials and locating the appropriate production facility (domestic or overseas)….all the way through the launch of their brand or business.

Others reach out to me after they’ve launched. We evaluate their current business to determine weaknesses and missing links. Is their marketing strategy in sync with their brand identity? Do they have a clearly defined target consumer or are they still trying to target a base of consumers that is too broad? How can we tighten up their strategy to achieve success?

I take great pleasure in watching my clients’ businesses evolve and grow. Each client is different. With a one-on-one approach, I devise a strategic plan tailored specifically to each brand’s individual needs and implement key initiatives to execute their objectives.

Intimate Insight: Tatu Couture Elevates the Tattoo Trend in Luxury Lingerie

28 Jan

Although tattoos have become more commonplace in the past few decades, there are still those women who shy away from permanently marking their skin.  The luxury lingerie line Tatu Couture let’s you have all the fun of a tattoo while adding a splash of elegance to your life.

Isabelle Bodysuit

British based design brand, Tatu Couture, is the creation of Luisa Sidoli, a De Montfort University grad and former head lingerie designer at Ann Summers.  Luisa has taken the tattoo trend a step further by creating an illusion line of luxury bras, panties and bodywear pieces inspired by the notion that “body art,” like lingerie, is a form of sensual expression.  Her pieces incorporate everything from full back graphic designs to subtle and thought provoking quotes such as “Give your heart and soul to me and life will always be La vie en rose,” which is printed on mesh side panels on the La Vie En Rose Bodysuit.  The ‘trompe l’oeil’ tattoo motifs are created in collaboration with professional tattoo artists to make sure they are as authentic as possible.

Lana Bodysuit

Adding an extra dimension to the collection, Tatu Couture styles are constructed of high-quality fabrics that mimic light control shapewear.  Each piece pulls you in, giving you a smooth, sleek shape without feeling too constricting or confining.  The collection comes in two different skin tones to help make the illusion pieces look even more real.

Lola Bodysuit

For the collection entitled “Sweet Surrender,” Tatu Couture has added ivory to its assortment in key silhouettes.  This collection blends a subtle sophistication and rebelliousness with a play on retro styling and the alluring scene of Baroque Italian culture.

Carla Bustle Back Brief

On Tatu Couture’s website, the lingerie is displayed in a dazzling array of angled shots.  The company has added a special styling tip feature where it gives customers advice on how to pair the pieces together and/or how to wear them out of the bedroom!

10 Jan

Happy New Year!  For me, the New Year is a great time for reflection.  Many years ago I started a habit of keeping a journal.  I am not one to write in it daily; but I make it a point to pull it out in the first part of January to write out my accomplishments from the previous year and to list out my goals, hopes, dreams and initiatives for the coming year (both personal and professional.)  It’s fascinating to look at what was written the previous January.  Most of the time, I forget what I wrote!  Usually, the goals that were set have been accomplished (in some shape or form.)  And more often than not, the outcome is far better than I could have imagined!  So before I get you up to speed on the upcoming “Intimate Affairs,” I’d like to reflect back on 2012.

Dear Kate Ms MoxieIn 2012, we saw the launch of several new independent brands including Angela Friedman, Nevaeh Intimates, Fleur du Mal, Cheeki brand and Rouge Séduire among others.  Julie Sygiel re-launched the revolutionary, absorbent, leak-proof and stain-resistant underthings now known as Dear Kate.  And the Empowered By You panty was launched which enables underprivileged women to spearhead their own businesses.

The lingerie blogosphere expanded to include new bloggers and other independent intimate apparel professionals including my personal new fave, Caro the Lingerie Lesbian!

In ecommerce retailing, we saw new methods of marketing and selling intimates from sites including True & Co., IntiMint, AdoreMe.com and Ampere.  Ecom retailers are offering lingerie subscription services and other innovative methods of retailing.

I witnessed an increased awareness of the importance of a proper fit. There were numerous online “debates” regarding the best way to fit, vanity sizing and so on.  More and more brands, manufacturers and retailers are paying closer attention to the needs specific to the full-figure and full-busted consumer.  Early last year, Bare Necessities launched their sister site, Bare Plus, which is an online shopping environment dedicated to this consumer.

Freshpair Pic 1Several e-tailers made an attempt to answer the question of how to get a proper fit when purchasing online.  HerRoom.com launched the proprietary “Know your Breasts Bra Finder” questionnaire which purports to help you discover your best bra styles.  And Freshpair.com re-launched their website which now includes more personalized services such as an At-Home Bra Fit Service and a Men’s Underwear Club.  Freshpair also celebrated the 10th Anniversary of National Underwear Day by hosting a one-of-a-kind “It’s Time for a Change” pop-up store experience in New York City in August.

LingerieAlliance_horizontal logoIn August of 2012, my partner Luis Paredes, publisher of The Lingerie Journal (and The Business of Pleasure,) and I launched the online collaborative community of intimate apparel professionals known as The Lingerie Alliance.  The Lingerie Alliance was inspired by the Brand Affair Marketing and PR Panel Discussion we hosted during February Market 2012.  The Brand Affair proved to us that there is a need for a collaborative community of lingerie professionals as well as education, information and resources.  Throughout the year, we sponsored several events including NOLCHA Fashion Week’s Closing Party and the non-profit fundraisers PinkChoseMe’s BRA Day USA 2012 and Go Naked and Check Yourself.  We ended the year with a fun “Festive Affair” Holiday Networking Social which represented our vision for The Lingerie Alliance.  The coming year will bring more events, workshops and seminars tailored specifically for today’s intimate apparel professional and we hope to have the membership functionality for the site itself completed before Summer.

LingerieFW_imageLauren Rich of RICHPR announced that she will be launching LingerieFW in New York City in February 2013.  LingerieFW will be the first fashion week dedicated to intimate apparel brands.

In late October, the northeast suffered the wrath of Hurricane Sandy which delayed the quarterly wholesale market week and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses including my friend Marla Wink’s lingerie store, Indian Summer, in Beach Haven, Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  (I’m happy to report that Marla is as determined as ever to rebuild her store and is hopeful that she will re-open her doors in time for the busy Summer selling season down the shore.)

The Lingerie Collective is coming to New York City in February 2013!  The boutique trade show is well-known in London for featuring British and international emerging brands with a focus on innovation and luxury.

Jene Luciani and Moira Nelson_2012 HUG Awards GalaThe non-profit Underfashion Club and the Intimate Apparel Square Club continued their programs in 2012 including the FEMMY Gala last February, the H.U.G. Awards Gala in November, various other programs throughout the year and their annual Holiday parties in December.  Both organizations make significant contributions to our industry and raise funds to support their respective causes.

Angie Courtney, owner of Sweetest Sin

Other charity events included Go Naked and Check Yourself which was hosted in part by Sweetest Sin Boutique in Red Bank, New Jersey and included sponsors LELO and The Lingerie Alliance.

Overall, 2012 was a year full of growth and advancements.  I am motivated by the forward movement in our industry and look forward to seeing further progress throughout 2013.  I wish all of you the best of health, happiness, a sense of well-being, success and prosperity in your professional lives and in your personal endeavors.

Intimate Insight: Fashion-meets-Function Lingerie Line “Dear Kate” Launches

13 Nov

Dear Kate, the young fashion-meets-function lingerie line, is set to launch online this month followed by availability in specialty boutiques across the U.S.  The debut collection—an assortment ranging from elegant high-rises and cream bodysuits to pastel bikinis and basic hipsters—pays homage to what every woman loves about her favorite intimates.

While the designs alone catch the eye, it’s what’s underneath that has Dear Kate poised to make its mark with not only fashionistas, but also new and expecting mothers.  Julie Sygiel, founder and CEO of Dear Kate says, “The risk of an oops moment shouldn’t mean we have to give up what we feel good in.”  Below the beauty of every Dear Kate panty is a light-as-a-feather lining that protects women against stains and spills with the utmost discretion.

Delicate to the touch and known for their easy wear-and-wash quality, the panties have already garnered a cult following through an earlier line in 2011.  Originally named Sexy Period, the patent-pending high-tech underwear was geared towards women who wanted extra backup during their period without having to compromise on style.  But when Sexy Period saw preteens, new moms experiencing incontinence, and even athletes embrace their panties, they knew a rebranding was in order.  Known briefly as Underbrella before a trademark issue delayed a re-launch this summer, the team behind Dear Kate is pleased with the early praise they’ve already received.

“Kate is that best friend in a crisis, the one who rushes to your side with chocolate,” says Sygiel, on the line’s new name.  “The women who wear our panties appreciate not only the innovation behind it, but also the community we’ve become, and Dear Kate embraces that fully.”

Intimate Insiders, Intimate Affairs and Upcoming Events

8 Aug

It’s that time of the year….  Too much lingerie; not enough time to do all of the things I want to do!  From trade shows to press previews, market week kick-off parties, fashion shows, seminars, conferences and other events….  There’s no rest for the weary!

On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, The Intimate Apparel Council hosted an Intimate Affair at the Union League Club in NYC.  Marshal Cohen, Chief Industry Analyst of The NPD Group, presented “50 Shades of Intimates.”  He discussed retail trends and the “consumerology” impacting our industry in particular.  Marshal provided invaluable intimate insight such as current “distractions” that are affecting consumer spending and he emphasized the importance of value and innovation.

On Thursday, August 2nd, I had the privilege of attending a Press Preview Event where I was introduced to the EMPOWERED BY YOU (“EBY”) panty.  The high-tech panty incorporates a patented silicone “flocking” technology and side-seam fusion technique to prevent slippage, impart smoothness and ensure steady wear.  A cause-brand initiative, $1 from the sale of every EBY panty will fund Seven Bar Foundation, a non-profit organization that extends its trademark “ladder” to women out of poverty and into business through microfinance.  Each panty includes an insert with a testimonial from a woman who has been empowered by the Foundation, which works closely with both international and local partners such as Project Enterprise which benefits women in the New York City area.  Project Enterprise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support and develop entrepreneurs and small businesses in under-resourced communities in New York City.  The Seven Bar Foundation lends women a “hand up”, not a “hand out” by giving them a “first break”.

Luis Paredes and Moira Nelson

The Lingerie Alliance Launch Party and Lingerie Fashion Show held on Saturday, August 4th at The Griffin lounge in NYC was a huge success.  The Intimate Affair introduced industry leaders, buyers, media and press to the online collaborative community of intimate apparel professionals created by me and my partner, Luis Paredes.  We are so pleased with the way things turned out and are motivated by the enthusiasm and support we have received from the industry.  The Fashion Show featured the SS13 collections from the event’s key sponsor, Affinitas & Parfait, as well as the imaginative designs of independent brands Angela Friedman, Clare Bare Eco Intimates, Dirty Dolls Lingerie, Nevaeh Intimates, Ombrato and With Love Lingerie.  Buyers that missed the Intimate Affair on Saturday night can still get a look at the six emerging brands at the Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase today, August 8th at the AKA Hotel, Times Square, NYC.  The Showcase gives buyers that are looking for innovative, new collections the opportunity to meet one-on-one with these indie designers in a relaxed setting.

The Best of Intima’s Best Shop Awards were held in the Penthouse at 230 Fifth Ave on Sunday, August 5th.  Last year’s winner of the Best of Intima’s Choice Award, Angela Courtney of Sweetest Sin Boutique in Red Bank, New Jersey, was an honored guest at this year’s awards ceremony.  She said, “It was a great night in Lingerie-land.  It was such an accomplishment for me to win last year’s Best Shop Award and reliving the night with the industry’s crème de la crème again this year was incredible.  I mingled with other boutique owners and CEO’s of the biggest lingerie brands.  Plus the venue was fabulous…a rooftop lounge overlooking the empire state building.  I’m truly looking forward to next year.”

The 2012 Best of Intima Best Shop Awards were presented to:

Concept Store: Knickers of Hyde Park

European Flair: Forty Winks

Personal Touch: Toujours

Reference Shop: Sara’s Lingerie

The Best of Intima’s Choice: Le Boudoir, Inc.

And Special Recognition Prizes were awarded to:

Best Unexpected Location: Bella Fine Lingerie

CONGRATS to the 2012 Best Shop Award Nominees and Winners!

On Monday evening, CURVENY presented The So Curve Fashion Show.  From ballet to burlesque… From a Gotye remix to a touch of the Material Girl…and intervals topless…. The So Curve Fashion Show performed by the renowned Crazy Horse Paris dancers at CurvExpo was a spectacular performance.  The dancers wore selected styles from exhibitors at CurvExpo including Affinitas, Fantasie, Fauve and Freya, Hanky Panky, LOU Paris, Simone Perele and Wacoal, among others.

The bi-annual Lingerie Trade Show CURVENY just wrapped up and now they’re headed to Las Vegas.  CURVELV runs from August 21st through the 23rd at The Venetian.  Guests can register at www.curvexpo.com.

Last night, the Underfashion Club hosted “A Paris Report” which was presented by Mayouri Sengchanh of Carlin International.  The Intimate Affair featured a report on the MODE City and Interfiliere Trade Shows as well as highlights of the coming SS14 Season.

And tonight, the gals from ILOVEAGOOD are hosting Chantelle’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection Preview.  The Intimate Affair is being held at the brand’s NY Showroom on Madison Ave and will include cocktails, professional bra fittings and gift bags!  Oooo La La!

Angela Friedman
Angela Friedman is a New York based lingerie designer specializing in corsets and silk intimates. Her new Versailles Collection is a vintage-inspired lingerie line, featuring intricate Baroque detailing and a delicate, muted color palette. This line emphasizes beauty and indulgence, and its hourglass silhouettes and draped silks are designed to make women feel as alluring as they look. The line features steel-boned corsets, bias-cut slips and robes, and lace bra and panty sets. Each fabric is selected for its luxury appeal: European silks, metallic brocades, French lace, frothy ruffles, and hand embroidery add to the luscious, decadent, and feminine feel of the collection. The line philosophy is to maintain the integrity of historical fashion, but blend it with a contemporary aesthetic. This collection offers women the opportunity to access the fairytale romance of the past, while presenting a style that reflects their everyday modern lives. The Versailles Collection empowers women to feel stronger and more confident in their own skin, all while indulging themselves in the soft, delicate intimates that they deserve! Angela Friedman’s lingerie is designed and manufactured by hand in the heart of New York City’s garment district. Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/angela-friedman/

Clare Bare Lingerie
Clare Bare is a Brooklyn based designer specializing in fashion forward eco-friendly lingerie made from organic cotton, bamboo jersey, and vintage fabric. Clare creates garments that are structured to flatter your body in a natural way without the use of constrictive hardware, and each piece is as comfortable as it is sexy. All of her pieces are made in house with the assistance of local creatives, using sustainable practices and natural and handmade dyes. The designs range everywhere in between fashion and function, and offer something for everyone. Soft cup bralettes, bodysuits, panties, and garter belts are created with a modern take on vintage styling. Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/clare-bare-lingerie/

Dirty Dolls Lingerie
Inspired by the vintage under-things worn by the starlets of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Dirty Dolls Lingerie is bringing glamour back into the everyday. Dirty Dolls Lingerie was founded in November of 2008 by Courtney Leigh Newman and Erica Rosalind Paul, two veteran fashion designers known to their loyal customers simply as “The Dolls.” The company’s core mission is to provide gorgeous, perfectly fitted brassieres, panties, and shapers to women who wear hard-to-find sizes. The Dolls themselves are among the millions of ladies who’ve long been frustrated by the absence of great brassieres available to those blessed with sexy curves. After years of being forced to buy dull bras simply because they had beautiful bosoms, The Dolls decided to take matters into their own hands. Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/dirty-dolls-lingerie/

Nevaeh Intimates
Decadence is key. Nevaeh Intimates, by Melissa Franchi and created in New York City, exudes femininity and empowers the modern day sophisticated women with a new luxurious lingerie collection. Fever and Thoughts is a timeless collection that fulfills all needs and desires: long-line, non-wire, full coverage bras, bikinis, high waisted briefs, hipsters, thongs, chemise, and garters. The pieces are designed using exquisite details, such as galloon lace inserts, luxurious stretch silk charmeuse, and hand-sewn vintage gold beading. Pieces are adjustable and removable to ensure comfort and support. Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/nevaeh-intimates/

Ombrato Lingerie and Sleepwear
Ombrato means “take it easy” in a Japanese dialect. As the name suggests, Ombrato creates simple, elegant and comfortable sleep and lounge wear using high quality materials. Inspired by clean and understated elements of Japanese aesthetics, the design is streamlined yet gives women a sense of femininity and being special. The borderline between inner wear and outer wear is increasingly blurred and Ombrato aims to offer pieces that can effortlessly travel both worlds. Ombrato is based in New York City and all the garments are manufactured locally.  For Spring/Summer 2013, Ombrato introduces lounge wear using Liberty of London seasonal collection. Stripes in muted colors and nature inspired patterns are truly unique and a slip dress and camisole can easily be worn outside. There are also pieces using lace fabric and English stretch net as well as silk charmeuse and chiffon.  Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/ombrato-lingerie-and-sleepwear/

With Love Lingerie
With Love Lingerie is about evoking glamour and intimacy through underpinnings that are made and worn with love. With Love founder and head designer, Carrie Russell, muses, “women can feel guilty when they indulge in a box of chocolates or a bottle or their favorite Merlot, but the right lingerie should make them feel like a million dollars.”
Russell draws much of her inspiration from her background in Visual Art and English Literature. She has worked with several North American lingerie companies, evening wear designers and private labels. In 2010, she launched “With Love Lingerie,” a lingerie company that marries her love of design from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s with her signature modern femininity. The collection combines sensuous textures and luscious color stories with classic feminine design and a luxury sensibility. Many of the pieces draw inspiration from the graceful aesthetics of decades gone by and are infused with modern elements and details. Many of the pieces in the collection flatter the curves of a range of women from XS-1X. Make an appointment: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/with-love-lingerie/

Intimate Insiders, Intimate Affairs and Upcoming Events

24 Jul

It’s a very busy time of year for the Lingerie biz.  We’ve hardly recovered from the jetlag resulting from trips to MODE CITY in Paris and other European buying trips earlier this month.  And now we’re headed straight into the busiest few weeks of the year.

Speaking of Europe, I’ve had the privilege of seeing a few SS13 Trend Reports over the past few weeks.  Most of these reports are proprietary, but I’ve got two words for you—floral and coral!  Yes, Tangerine Tango is here to stay….at least for a little while longer.  Although, it looks like it will be used more as an accent color than a primary color.  And designers are playing with the intensity of the color a bit.  In general, the trends are ultra-feminine…. Simply, pretty!  The bold, bright floral prints coming in Spring are fabulous….

Next week is the wholesale Market Week here in New York City.  Buyers from major retailers come in from around the country to meet with their current vendors and to meet-and-greet with potential new vendors.  The focus will be on wrapping up SS13 buys and previewing Back-to-School and Fall 13 assortments.  That is followed by the bi-annual Lingerie Trade Shows CURVENY and The Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase here in NYC.  And then, CURVELV takes place a few weeks later in Las Vegas.  In addition to the Market appointments, buyers and brands are busy attending various other industry related events such as The Best of Intima’s Best Shop Awards on August 5th

And of course, no one wants to miss The Lingerie Alliance Launch Party and Lingerie Fashion Show on Saturday, August 4th!  The Intimate Affair will introduce industry leaders, buyers, media and press to the online collaborative community of intimate apparel professionals created by me and my partner, Luis Paredes.  The Fashion Show will feature SS13 collections from Affinitas & Parfait as well as the imaginative designs of independent brands Angela Friedman, Clare Bare Eco Intimates, Dirty Dolls Lingerie, Nevaeh Intimates, Ombrato Lingerie & Sleepwear and With Love Lingerie.  Buyers and Media/Press are welcome to attend the Intimate Affair or they can register to view the designer collections during Market Week.  Affinitas & Parfait will be exhibiting at CurvExpo from August 5th through the 7th while the six emerging, independent labels will be showing their lines at the Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase from August 5th through August 8th at the AKA Hotel, Times Square, NYC.  The Showcase gives buyers the opportunity to meet one-on-one with designers in a relaxed setting.  Buyers looking for innovative, new collections can pre-register for the Designer Showcase at: http://lingeriedesignershowcase.com/attendee-registration/

REMINDER- The Intimate Apparel Square Club is having their annual Christmas in July Party at the RUSK Institute on 34th Street and First Ave in NYC this Wednesday, July 25th.   Members of the Club and other supporters of IASC and RUSK come together to visit with the children who are suffering from life-altering illnesses or disabilities to spread some “holiday” cheer.  The festive Intimate Affair brings joy to the children and warms the hearts of all those who attend.  If you are interested in attending this special event or want to learn more about how you can get involved in the IASC, feel free to reach out to me.

The Intimate Apparel Council is gathering together for their next event at the Union League Club in NYC on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.  Marshal Cohen, Chief Industry Analyst of The NPD Group, will present “50 Shades of Intimates” as he discusses trends impacting our industry.  The event is free for members of the Intimate Apparel Council (and their employees.)  The Intimate Apparel Council is a division of the American Apparel and Footwear Association.

On Tuesday, August 7th, the Underfashion Club is hosting “A Paris Report” to be presented by Mayouri Sengchanh of Carlin International.  The “Intimate Affair” will feature a report on the MODE City and Interfiliere Trade Shows as well as highlights of the SS14 Season.

Intimate Insight: Curvy Kate Launches “Star in a Bra” Model Search in the USA

It was over a year ago that I first discovered the UK brand, Curvy Kate.  As a full-busted consumer, I am always on the lookout for new brands which cater to women like me.  And as an intimate apparel professional, I make it my business to know what’s happening in the world of lingerie.  I was immediately drawn to the youthful, playful and flirtatious styling of the brand and anxious to find out how to get my hands on a matching set.  And it was great to see the product on curvy models that looked like me!  But more importantly, it was their business strategy that caught my attention.  Besides the fact that they had over 400% growth in the few short years since launching the brand, I was very impressed with the company’s innovative approach to marketing.

Late last year I wrote an article for The Lingerie Journal about the importance of social media in the intimate apparel industry.  I identified Curvy Kate as one of several intimate apparel brands which are doing a great job utilizing social media to promote themselves.  I wrote, “In the U.K., the newcomer on the scene is a full-busted brand called Curvy Kate…..they’ve come on the scene and made quite an impression. And the bulk of their marketing has been a “grassroots” social media campaign. Curvy Kate is active on the internet and appeals to the “everywoman.” Rather than hire expensive models to promote their brand, they conducted a model search called “Star in a Bra.” All of the Curvy Kate models are amateurs who submitted themselves to be the face and bust of the brand. And the best part is that we get to be the judge!”

At that time, Curvy Kate was only available in the UK and in Europe and was starting to take hold in Australia.  But this relatively small, full-busted UK label has since gone global.  And much of this success is due to their innovative “grassroots” marketing and PR initiatives.  The brand is now being sold in specialty shops throughout the US and is available on the leading intimate apparel ecommerce site, BareNecessities.com.

To celebrate the brand’s foray into the US market, the company has recently announced that they are bringing their annual Star in a Bra competition to the US.  Starting in April, the brand will scour the United States for a naturally curvy woman who will become the face and body of the brand.  Going against the grain, Curvy Kate champions shapely figures by searching for D plus girls who are curvy, charismatic and confident with a fuller body and a natural full bust.

The Star in a Bra search will be run through the brand’s new USA Facebook page and they encourage fans to submit their favorite lingerie photos to win an international modeling contract and a year’s worth of Curvy Kate Lingerie. The winner will also be flown to the UK to take part in the brand’s latest marketing campaign with fellow UK and Australian winners.

The competition strives to celebrate healthy curves, a positive body image and diversity. Curvy Kate Marketing Manager, Hannah Houston, stated, “We truly believe that our customers should model our lingerie as these are the girls who will be buying it. Our model search isn’t just a one off – it’s here to stay to prove how gorgeous the shapely figure looks in lingerie – wobbles, bumps and all. If you can wear Curvy Kate lingerie – you’re in.”  Showing how Curvy Kate’s lingerie looks on a fuller bust and shapely frame gives a true representation of how the product fits and supports a larger bustline.

Curvy Kate D – K cup lingerie is designed for fun, flirty girls with a fuller breast and desire for fashion. Utilizing gorgeous, fashion-conscious designs and clever engineering, the brand offers variety and flattering, colorful styles normally only seen in smaller cup sizes. Bras retail from $65 to $75 USD.

Buyers can preview Curvy Kate’s next collection at the CurveNY lingerie trade show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center through Thursday, February 23rd.  Booth # 416.

You’re Invited: The Dirty Dolls Exhibit Pinstripe Pin-Up Collection

21 Feb

Dirty Dolls Lingerie has already made a huge splash with its classic line, which features luxuriously styled bras in hard-to-find sizes, as well as exquisite panties and shapers.  Now the budding company is spicing things up again with its vaudeville-inspired Pinstripe Pin-Up collection.

The new collection features design elements such as bold stripes and playful bows that were influenced by the ladies of the Ziegfeld Follies.  These beautiful chorus women, commonly known as Ziegfeld Girls, wore stunning costumes and exuded pure glamour.  The Dolls’ latest offerings pay homage to these sexy icons.

The centerpiece of the new collection is the Pinstripe Pin-Up brassiere.  This is available in sizes 28C through 38G.  The coordinating panty options are either a sultry power-mesh shaping panty with removable garters, or a provocative string thong.  All of these lovely under-things create a flattering and smooth look beneath any sort of garment, from a sharp business suit to a flirty party dress.

View the collection at The Intimate Apparel Boutique Lingerie Show today through Thursday.
